Spoken Word/Literary Artist.

Internationally Featured and Nationally ranked.

LET'S GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER

Hey you!

My alias is C.R.U.S.H YourPoet, but you can just call me CRUSH. I’m a Nationally Ranked, Internationally performed spoken word artist, show curator, and community connector. My name is an acronym for Creating Realities Using Spiritual Hands, and my purpose is wrapped in showing others how they can use their creativity and passion to manifest their desired realities. I am very passionate about creating safe spaces for communities to come together and express themselves, while also using my poetry to promote awareness, acceptance and self-love. Be the change, ya know?

DISCOVERING MY PURPOSE

WHERE IT STARTED

My poetry journey started out of a healing process. During a time when I was in a dark mental state, I made the self love promise to myself to take myself out on dates. The place I ended up every Friday night was Dallas Poetry Slam. I was so inspired by the poets that performed on stage, I decided I wanted to give intentional writing a try. After sharing my first piece on stage, the energy I received pushed me to pour my time and energy into learning the craft.

FINDING MY VOICE

I discovered a natural gift for storytelling through poetry, however it was the writing and performance workshops that excelled my gift enough to earn a spot on the Dallas Poetry Slam Team. This is when the true dedication came in. I made a choice that I was going to use my platform to not only express myself and connect with others, but make a difference in my community. I was able to shape my writing style to present thought provoking messages with a relatable, yet clever delivery.

TIME AND EFFORT

Endless hours writing and editing, practicing and performing took me to win national rankings individually and in team competitions. It gave me the confidence I needed to begin to look at poetry as not only my purpose, but a career. The love and effort I poured into my craft were reciprocated, as I garnered a loyal following and found unwavering support. I have been able to create safe spaces for my community to express themselves, build relationships, and share their love and support. The elevation happened quickly, and I’m still climbing!

MY BACKGROUND

MY STYLE

My poetry is meant to evoke thought and emotion. I tend to use metaphor, wordplay, and storytelling to make the audience think outside the box while providing relatable content to promote needed conversations.

CREATING. PERFORMING. THRIVING.

BUILDING COMMUNITIES, INSPIRING OTHERS.

RECOGNITION

The recognition and success I achieved allowed me to create and curate my own shows, such as “FluidFridays” Queer Open Mic and “Premium Week-END” Speakeasy. These platforms provided a space for diverse voices to be heard and celebrated. Furthermore, my performances extended beyond national borders, as I became a featured performer not only across the country but also in various other countries.
